Il Campionato del Mondo 100 km 2014 (World IAU 100 km Championships) che, assieme al Campionato Europeo 100 km, avrebbe dovuto svolgersi nella località di Daugvapils in Lettona è stato cancellato.
La IAU (International Association Ultrarunners), attraverso il suo sito ufficiale, dà di ciò notizia ufficale, con molto rammarico e dispiacere.
Il comitato organizzatore locale (LOC), infatti, non ha potuto raccogliere le adesioni di sponsor qualificati per potere supportare la complessa e dispendiosa macchina organizzativa.
Il Consiglio esecutivo della IAU, avendo in mente la necessità di assicurare agli atleti e agli appassionati un campionato del Mondo per il 2014 - peraltro molto atteso visto che quello in programma per il 2013 è saltato -, sta cercando attivamente una nuova location idonea.

100 km World Championships 2014 Cancelled in Latvia
We regret to announce that the 100 km World Championships 2014 scheduled to be held in Daugavpils, Latvia have been cancelled.
The Local Organizing Committee unfortunately has not been able to secure the sponsorships required to host the championships.
We understand that the championships are of prime importance to our athletes. Keeping this in mind we have begun discussions to secure another venue for the championships. The discussions are still ongoing and we hope to come back with some more news by the end of next week. We apologize the inconvenience that the cancellation has caused our athletes and member federations.
We request that you stay tuned to our website as we progress through the required steps in order to secure another venue for the championships.
